Closing a Gathering 

(Kaffarat al-Majlis)

To seek forgiveness for any idle talk or mistakes made during a meeting or gathering, the Prophet ﷺ taught this expiation prayer:

سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ، أَشْهدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، أَسْتَغْفِرُكَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْكَ

Subhanakallahumma wa bihamdika, ash-hadu an la ilaha illa Anta, astaghfiruka wa atubu ilaika.

Meaning:

 "Glory be to You, O Allah, and praise be to You.

 I bear witness that there is no true god except You.

 I ask Your forgiveness and turn to You in repentance.
