HADITH SAHIH MUSLIM 995 .. SADAQA .. SEDEKAH

The primary authentic narration states that when a Muslim husband spends on his family with the intention of earning Allah's pleasure, it is recorded for him as an act of charity (Sadaqah).

Islam places an exceptionally high value on fulfilling domestic responsibilities, transforming a regular financial obligation into an ongoing spiritual investment.

 Authentic Hadiths

The Reward of Intention:

Narrated by Abu Mas'ud Al-Ansari, the Prophet ﷺ said:

"When a Muslim spends something on his family intending to receive Allah's reward, it is regarded as Sadaqa for him."

—

Sahih al-Bukhari 56,

Sahih Muslim 1002.

The Highest-Yielding Expense:

The Prophet ﷺ clarified the hierarchy of spending by saying:

"Of the dinar you spend as a contribution in Allah's path, or to set free a slave, or as a sadaqa given to a needy, or to support your family, the one yielding the greatest reward is that which you spent on your family."

 —

 Sahih Muslim 995.

The Best Financial Investment:

It was narrated by Thawban that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

"The best coin for a man to spend is the coin spent on his dependents..."

 Sahih Muslim.

Even the Smallest Actions Count:

In a detailed counsel to Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas, the Prophet ﷺ emphasized:

"Whatever you spend will be considered a Sadaqa for you, even the mouthful of food you put in the mouth of your wife."

 —

 Sahih al-Bukhari 2707.
