Regarding the revelation
Narrated Ibn Mas’ud [radhi-yAllahu ‘anhu]: A man kissed a woman and then came to Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) and told him of that.
So this Divine Revelation was revealed to the Prophet :-
“And perform As-Salat (the prayers) at the two ends of the day, and in some hours of the night;
[i.e. the five compulsory Salat (prayers)].
Verily, the good deeds remove the evil deeds (small sins).
That is a reminder for the mindful.” (V.11:114).
The man said,
“Is this instruction for me only?”
The Prophet (ﷺ) said,
“It is for all those of my followers who encounter a similar situation.”
[Sahih Al-Bukhari, 6/4687 (O.P.209)]
Another narration that talks about this, concept is…..
Narrated Abu Dhar [radhi-yAllahu ‘anhu]:
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said to me: ”
(a) Be afraid of Allah and keep your duty to him wherever you may be.
(b) And follow up the evil deeds with the good deeds, (verily) the good deeds remove (blot out) the evil deeds.
(c) And (treat) behave with the people in a high standard of character.”
(This Hadith is quoted by At-Tirmidhi).
The Ayah is so beautiful, full of hope, we keep our duty to our Rabb worshipping Him and observing Salah…
Good deeds will erase our minor sins that we keep committing.
When we commit some sin or fall short in doing our duties as a muslim, we feel a burden and our heart is restless, we are falling in despair but we should tackle that situation by doing more good…
Shaitan wants us to feel down and disconnect and drown in sorrow.
But what we need to do is put our head in sujood and elevate and connect
with our Rabb.
And ask for forgiveness, no one has power to forgive except our Rabb
Narrated Abu Bakr as-Siddiq:
Asma’ bint al-Hakam said:
I heard Ali say: I was a man; when I heard a tradition from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), Allah benefited me with it as much as He willed.
But when some one of his companions narrated a tradition to me I adjured him. When he took an oath, I testified him.
Abu Bakr narrated to me a tradition, and Abu Bakr narrated truthfully. He said:
I heard the apostle of Allah (ﷺ) saying:
When a servant (of Allah) commits a sin, and he performs ablution well, and then stands and prays two rak’ahs, and asks pardon of Allah, Allah pardons him.
He then recited this verse:
“And those who, when they commit indecency or wrong their souls, remember Allah”
(Al-Qur’an 3:135).
