ZKIR KHAFI OR SILENT ZKIR ..

In Islam, silent dhikr (also known as Dhikr Khafi or Dhikr Qalbi) is a highly praised form of worship. Several hadiths highlight its immense rewards, often emphasizing its sincerity and privacy.

Key hadiths and teachings on silent remembrance include the following:

1. The Superiority of Hidden Dhikr

A well-known narration emphasizes the virtue of silent remembrance due to its privacy and sincerity:

The Prophet ﷺ said,

"The best dhikr is that which is done silently (Khafi), and the best provision is that which suffices."

(Musnad Ahmad, Ibn Hibban, and Sahih al-Targhib)

2. The Unrecorded Good Deed

In a narration reported by Sayyidah 'Aisha (RA), the intimate nature of silent dhikr makes it exclusively between the servant and Allah:

The Prophet ﷺ said,

"The silent remembrance of Allah, which the recording angels (Kiraman Katibin) are unable to hear, is seventy times superior to other forms of remembrance."

(Narrated by Imam al-Bayhaqi and Ibn Abi Shaybah in Shu'ab al-Iman)

3. Moderation in Voice

The Prophet ﷺ taught his companions to avoid excessive loudness when engaging in remembrance, reminding them that Allah is intimately close and always aware:

When the companions were raising their voices while traveling, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said,

 "Be gentle with yourselves!

You are not calling upon a deaf or an absent one. Verily, He is with you, He is All-Hearing, and He is Near."

(Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim)

4. The Foundation in the Qur'an

The concept of silent remembrance is rooted directly in the Qur'an, which serves as a primary source for this practice:

“And remember your Lord within yourself, humbly and with awe, without loudness in words, in the mornings and evenings; and do not be among the neglectful.”

 (Surah Al-A'raf, 7:205)

Understanding the Levels of Dhikr

Islamic scholars (like Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah and Imam Ibn al-Qayyim) categorize dhikr generally into four levels to provide a balanced understanding:

Dhikr with both the heart and the tongue:

This is the most complete and highly recommended state.

Dhikr in the heart only:

Excellent for contemplation, sincerity, and avoiding showing off.

Dhikr on the tongue only:

Recommended to keep the tongue moist with the remembrance of Allah, even if the heart is momentarily distracted.

Neither:

 The state of heedlessness.

1. Keutamaan Dzikir Tersembunyi

(HR. Bukhari dan Muslim)

3. Landasan Al-Qur'an (Surah Al-A'raf: 205)

 (Surah Al-A'raf, Ayat 205)

wallahu a'lam..
