ASMAULHUSNA .. YA DZUL JALALI WAL IKRAM

 


 

Use of the phrase in the Qur’an and Hadith


Quran

Verse:
 
“وَيَبْقَى وَجْهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ”
 
Translation: 
 
“And the face of your Lord’s glory and honor is immortal.”
 
 (Surah Rahman, 55:27)
 
 
Verse:
 
“تَبَارَكَ اسْمُ رَبِّكَ ذِي الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ”
 
 
Translation: 
 
“Blessed be the name of your Lord, the One who is in glory and honor.” 
 
(Surah Rahman, 55:78)
 

 
“ألظوا بياذا الجلال والإكرام”
 
Translation: “In the supplication hold fast the words ‘Ya Zal Jalali Wal Ikram’. 
 
(Tirmidhi, Hadith: 3525)
 
 
Arabic of hadith:
 
“اللهمَّ أنتَ السلامُ ومنكَ السلامُ تباركتَ يا ذا الجلالِ والإكرامِ”
 
 
Translation: “O Allah, You are the giver of peace, from You comes peace. Blessed are you, O glorious 
O POSESSOR OF MAJESTIC AND HONOUR.” 
 
(Muslim, Hadith: 591-592)
 
 
Arabic of hadith:
 
“اللهمَّ إنِّي أسألُك بأنَّ لك الحمدُ، لا إله إلا أنتَ المنَّانُ، بديعُ السَّماواتِ والأرضِ، يا ذا الجلالِ والإكرامِ، يا حيُّ يا قيومُ”
 
 
Translation: 
 
“O Allah, I pray to You, praise be to You, there is no god but You, You are the Great Giver, Creator of the heavens and the earth, O Possessor of majesty and honor, O Everlasting, O Founder.”
 
 (Tirmidhi, Hadith: 3544; Abu Dawud, Hadith: 1495; Nasa’i, Hadith: 130)
