" A TREASURE BENEATH THE THRONE " ..

The final verses of Surah Al-Baqarah (verses 284–286) are considered a profound blessing.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ revealed that they were given to him directly from a divine treasure located beneath the Throne of Allah, a privilege granted to no other prophet.

The verses contain a perfect balance of absolute faith, recognition of human weakness, and fervent supplication.

The Three Verses ..

VERSE 284:

 Divine Sovereignty and Knowledge

Reminds us that everything in the heavens and earth belongs to Allah.

Whether you conceal or reveal what is in your hearts, Allah knows it all and will hold you to account, eventually forgiving or punishing whom He wills.

Verse 285:

 The Believers' Faith

Details the foundation of Islamic faith. The Prophet and the believers affirm their complete belief in Allah, His angels, His Books, and His messengers without making any distinction between them. It ends with the ultimate submission of the believer:

"We hear, and we obey. [We seek] Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the [final] destination."

Verse 286:

The Ultimate Dua

Contains profound supplications:

Capacity:

Allah does not burden any soul beyond what it can bear.

Forgiveness:

"Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred."

Relief:

"Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us."

Mercy:

"And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector..."

Spiritual Significance & Blessings

Protection at Night:

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ stated that whoever recites the last two verses of Al-Baqarah at night, it will be sufficient for them (protecting them from harm).

Warding off Shaitaan:

A Hadith mentions that Allah wrote these verses 2,000 years before creating the heavens and the earth, and Satan will not approach a house in which they are recited for three nights.

Gift of Mercy:

Because of the sincere pleas in verse 286, it is recorded in Hadith that Allah responds to these specific duas with "I shall" or "I did".
