ISTIGHFAR .. AMAZING REWARDS AND VIRTUES ..

Istighfar Sayyidina Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) has said in another Hadith:

“The one who seeks forgiveness for Muslim males and females from Allah Ta’aala twenty-six or twenty-five times every day,

Allah Ta’ala will count that person among those whose Du’a is accepted, and through the barakah of whom those on earth gain rizq (sustenance) .”

This narration is recorded by Imam Al-Tabarani from the companion Sayyiduna Abud Darda (radiyallahu 'anhu),

mentioning that seeking forgiveness for believing men and women 25 or 27 times daily connects a person to answered prayers and the sustenance of earth.

Authenticity and Details

Source:

Recorded in the collections of Imam Al-Tabarani.

Number Count:

The narration specifies 25 or 27 times.

Core Virtues:

Acceptance of Dua and being a means through which provision (rizq) reaches creation.

The Hadith you quoted highlights a beautiful, rewarding practice that elevates a person’s status to having their supplications constantly answered.

Seeking forgiveness for all Muslim men and women changes a person from a solitary seeker into a spiritual advocate for the global community.

The Specific Supplication (Dua)

To practice this specific Hadith, scholars recommend reciting the following short, comprehensive prayer 25 or 26 times daily:

اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ، وَالْمُسْلِمِينَ وَالْمُسْلِمَاتِ

“Allahumma-ghfir lil-mu’mineena wal-mu’minaat, wal-muslimeena wal-muslimaat.”

"O Allah, forgive the believing men and believing women, and the submitting men and submitting women."

Core Virtues & Rewards of This Practice

Accepted Supplications

 (Mustajab ad-Du'a):

Allah places the regular reciter among those whose prayers are directly granted.

Channel of Sustenance (Rizq):

Through the spiritual blessings (barakah) of this individual, Allah distributes food, wealth, and provisions to the rest of the creation on earth.

Billions of Good Deeds:

In another closely related narration recorded by Imam At-Tabarani,

the Prophet ﷺ stated that whoever seeks forgiveness for the believers will receive a good deed (hasanah) for every single Muslim male and female from the past, present, and future.

 Istighfar (Sunnah)

While the narration you mentioned targets the global Muslim community, practicing regular individual Istighfar (saying Astaghfirullah) remains a fundamental daily ritual.

The Prophet ﷺ consistently practiced individual repentance at least 70 to 100 times every day.

Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) not only made himself 70 till 100 times a day Istighfar and Taubah, but as well enjoined the Muslims to ask Allah Ta’ala frequently for forgiveness.

One of the many virtues of Istighfar, that can be found in Ahadith, is that Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala deals with the person engaging much in Istighfar in a similar way like with the servant attaining Taqwa.

Sayyidina Abdullah bin Abbas (radhiallahu anho) narrates that Sayyidina Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said:

“The one who (regularly) says Istighfaar, that is, frequently repent to Allah Ta’aala for sins committed, Allah ‘Azza Wa-Jalla will open a path from poverty and difficulties.

All sorrow and hardship will be removed, and in its place prosperity and contentment granted.

One will receive sustenance from unimagined and unexpected sources.”

WALLAHU A'LAM ..
